The long days and warm weather make summer the perfect time to explore Sydney’s Biggest Backyard. From award-winning playgrounds to bushland trails, waterslides and weekend markets, the Parklands has something to offer everyone through the holiday season.

Summer opening hours for the Parklands are 8am-6pm. If you have any enquiries, you can reach us on 9895 7500. For immediate assistance, call the Duty Ranger on 0459 883 834. The Duty Ranger is available on public holidays.

We’ve put together a list of five favourite ways to spend time in Western Sydney Parklands, 50 years in the making.

Book a picnic shelter

The Parklands is full of shelters that you are welcome to use throughout the summer. Some are for hire and others available on a first-come-first-served basis. With some shelters still available to be booked for Christmas Day or New Year’s Eve, why not make a memorable day of it and use one of our shared electric barbeques to cook up a summer feast for family and friends?

Visit the 'Hire a Venue' webpage to book a shelter at Bungarribee, Lizard Log, and Plough and Harrow.

Bungarribee Park

Balance playtime with bush-time in the 200-hectare Bungarribee Park, an ideal spot for walking, cycling or letting the dog off the leash at the Warrigal Dog Run. Bungarribee is the perfect place to book a shelter and enjoy a picnic, before taking advantage of the award-winning playground with 14-meter-tall climbing tower, slides, flying-fox and water play. End your day out with a walk through the wide-open bushlands, full of wildflowers and native plants.

A day out at Wet'n'Wild

What better way is there to cool off on a warm Western Sydney day than by visiting Wet’n’Wild? It’s Australia’s biggest water park with over forty rides, slides and attractions for young and old. Right next to the Prospect Nature Reserve, it’s one of our favourite Parklands destinations and the ultimate summer hangout. Find out more about what to do at Wet’n’Wild.

TreeTops

Home to the world’s fastest new zipline Crazy Rider, TreeTops is the destination of choice for thrill-seekers in Western Sydney. Ramp up the “wow factor” as you swoop, twist, turn and zig-zag through the trees or make your way over suspension bridges. There are gentler experiences to be had too, and with options for all ages, you can discover the right option for you.

While you are there, spend some time in Plough and Harrow. This popular area of the Parklands is surrounded by beautiful native bushland and features a multi-generational play space with giant hamster wheel and pentagonal swing set. Wrap up your day with a coffee and something to eat at award-winning Amoretti’s Café.

Shop at Lizard Log markets

Lizard Log markets have around thirty craft and gift stalls alongside fresh farmers’ produce, flowers and tasty food and coffee. The final market for 2018 will be Saturday 22 December, after which they will close through Christmas and New Year’s and re-open on 19 January. Stay up to date with what’s happening.

After you’ve finished shopping, check out our Nature Playground next-door – complete with climbing wall and giant swings – or take a stroll up to the Dairy, Prospect Reservoir or Sugarloaf Ridge. You can read more about nearby tracks and facilities on our website.
